I thought we'd hear from both Ali and Nino, but so far, Ali has been the sole narrator. And his beliefs (especially re: women) are far from my own politics. Definitely one of the most foreign and unfamiliar cultures I've ever read about. I didn't realize how hard it is for me to be completely open to other ways of life until now. Will work on that as the story progresses.

I guess I'm in more of a Russian revolution type of mood lately, and Catherynne Valente's words are just a great to sink into at the end of the day. Or during the day when you don't want to check papers.

I'm not really in the mood for solid angst right now after reading CW & CNF papers written by teenagers almost everyday for the past six months, so I spoiled myself. It wasn't anything I hadn't already guessed, so idk. It's not a bad book. I'm just really not in the right mindset for it.

Six books behind schedule + I wasted a couple months idly reading Me Before You on my phone, when I should have been reading this instead. Death obsessed robot girl is my favorite color. Long live old school YA.

It's weird as hell to me how they act like teenagers in love but talk like children. I feel like in a certain angle it works, but I just can't see it the right way. This book and I just don't fit. :/ I am disappoint.

This book has been five starred by nearly everyone but I'm almost halfway through and I feel nothing??? I'm not sure I'm just going through one of my heartless phases or I overhyped this book for myself,, but I think the writing is a little flat??? Huhuhu.

This book has been employing Palahniuk-style shock tactics for a while but they were a little too preachy for them to really get a reaction out of me. And then--TRIGGER WARNING--child pornography. Yup, okay, I am thoroughly disgusted now. (Despite this, I think Atwood does shock stuff better than Palahniuk, who comes off as self-absorbed. Atwood actually seems to have a purpose beyond being gross.)

Rereading this book is like reading a poem for the second time.

I actually really liked Cassandra up until this Order of the Phoenix-style moping about. And I don't appreciate anyone who thinks themselves superior just because they choose to suffer, and who belittle other people for coping with their pain through ~boring things, like helping others or devoting their lives to their faith.

I hate Justineau.

"It tasted like her childhood, and her throat ached with unshed tears." This is a rough estimation of the amount of angst this main character has. Also, I propose a system of measuring the angst level of a character on how much food reminds them of their salty salty tears. Looking at you, Katniss.

"'I'm going to sleep,' she said, and then laid down on the floor without waiting for an answer. Nobody kicked her, so she supposed it must be all right. She fell asleep almost instantly." Same.

Is there going to be a weird rivalry between Melanie and Parks? Interesting thought but I'm not sure I want to go there. Also, I do not want to wake up in the middle of the night during the zombie apocalypse because the soldier supposed to be protecting us is masturbating. No, bro. No.

I have made the most progress on this one because this is a good book!

Kind of want to abandon this one with two stars, but I've already read 50+ pages and I'm invested in exactly one (minor) character so I'm holding on to see what happens to him. Basically, it's been more sex and me not getting what's so great about the writing style.

My med school reading strategy is to just keep starting books. I'm bound to finish one of them eventually.

So far this one's been kind of hammy but not distractingly so. It's pretty obvious that this is one of Bray's earlier books. I'm finding it a pretty light read. As long as it's light enough to read under my desk in the middle of Biochem, I think I may actually finish this one.

Also started reading this book today even if I still an exam on Monday because wow, rebel. Med school is seriously messing up my reading habits. Anyway, this one I actually really like so far. Has a distinct Never Let Me Go vibe, only less melancholy and more thriller.

Downloaded this because my new phone doesn't have enough space for music and I need entertainment on the bus.

This has so many good reviews but I'm really not feeling it?? They have sex in the first 20 pages! I don't care about these people enough to give a fuck. What can I say? I like my slow burn romances.

Impulse downloaded a PDF because the male lead's name is Ignifex and I just find that hilarious. Not as hilarious as Tohrment, but it's up there.

This one kind of bombarded me with every fantasy element known to man in the first chapter and it was all very disorientating. But then I started reading it in Cecil Baldwin's voice and everything came together.

idk man, something doesn't feel right. I felt the series getting weaker when I read UnSouled and idk the emotional investment's just not there anymore. Plus I've been trying to read more non-YA books this year and it's hard to get back into the YA groove even though I miss it, which is why I decided to pick this up in the first place. Maybe it's something in the dialogue? idk it just feels weird.
