I love the narrators voice, so charming and warm.

I can already tell I'm going to love this book. The apprehensive feeling started right away. Thumps from the attic, the dreary appearance of the old house, icy drafts. I'm completely hooked. And the tension between the characters already- delicious.

Already Loving this. Foreboding atmosphere. Relatable family drama. I'm creeped and invested.

Hmmm. Do I hate it? No. Am I enthralled? Also no.

There's been 3 scenes graphically describing urine and as many mentions of male genitalia. Is it supposed to be shocking? Revolting? I always struggle with unlikable characters. It's hard to appreciate a story when im busy loathing the narrator.

This writing is so human. Like peeking into people's bathrooms when they don't know anyone's watching. That naked vulnerability. GSC writes about the darkness of human nature, and somehow makes it beautiful. Her characters are disasters & their destruction feels relatable. I love writing that is honest and doesn't try to make suffering lighter but embraces it's depth. Deranged & devastating.

Aw man. This one is not living up to the hype for me. Nothingggg is happening. If I didn't have an intrinsic NEED to complete every book I start, I would have DNFed this at 50%. I'm shamelessly skimming the rest of things don't pick up soon.
