Reading the first chapter of this in 2023 - you know, the year where the pandemic is declared over but it's still killing people and people stopped caring because they were told not to care by governments and corporations - is just a little more fucked up than I expected so early in the book. Just a bit. Book's copyright reads 2017.

I just hugged a properly scary horror novel to my chest while blinking back tears. If you dealt with any internalized homophobia (and can handle some body horror) this one is for you.

This just became the most underrated and the most in touch with the current zeitgeist of the series. #Boom.

Oh, oh my god. This is gross and ambitious and creepy and I love it. I can't believe I almost passed this by.

It's early, but this book is criminally underrated. Easy contender for "Best of 2022," with a first person narration from a character who will read as cold and haughty (she's smart, direct with a pointed sense of humour). It's a tougher piece than the blurb suggests, but so, so worth it.

I've screamed 5 times in the last 20 pages. Also you know the "I don't believe in the glorification of murder. I do believe in the empowerment of women." Meme? Yeah. This is that shit. I'm delighted.

Is it obvious that I want to burn it all down?

Goodreads is telling me I've read and rated this one before. I haven't the foggiest idea. Must be the improbability drive.
