This has been very good. But I am continuing to realize I just don’t have much background or understanding of many of the classics. I just got done with chapter 3, where Volf discusses key themes in a Paradise Lost, and I needed to find a few summaries because I was definitely getting lost in that deep dive literary analysis.

In the words of Oskar N. Reteep, had he ever actually said it, “Some stories take on the liking of Nia’s Maggot Loaf. They aren’t for everyone.”

Others are like Butterbread; dense to get through at first, but delightful for sopping up the cheesy chowder.

I haven’t loved this book, but the plot seems to finally be taking off, and it’s getting harder to put down… like a nice hot bowl of cheesy chowder.
