The World-Ending Fire is a collection of essays written by the pastoralist and philosopher, Wendell Berry. I first heard about him through Nick Offermans’ book, Gumption; I can see how and why Nick is so inspired by him. I’m barely into the book and my mind has melted before his spell bounding meditations of nature and home in the first essay, Native Hill.

I love this book

Getting close to finishing this masterpiece, I’m going to miss lugging this big ol book around. I’m not going to miss Dolokov, that damn scamp.

I’m taking too long and the poor book is starting to feel it!

Ended the first volume with a tear in my eyes

Getting closer to the core of it all. His writing is at times confronting and lulling. I can definitely understand the criticisms he receives for the way he writes and I think with them I agree. Outside of these criticisms I like his voice and the way he’s weaved this story.
