Shelving.
I just can't force myself to read it at this time.

I'm 17 and a half minutes in and seriously debating shelving this one because sexual harassment by a sadistic asshole is a law suit, not a love story.

Aaaand the hate sex commences. We didn't see that coming. Nope. 🙄
These people only do anger rage, tantrums and hate lust.
If I had to deal with women like her somebody would have been dead by now.
These are not my people.
Do guys really like women like this?

I still hate this woman.

Now, I'm getting irritated by her son, who, while he seems like a mostly normal, energetic boy, constantly exclaims "Awesome!", and "Cool!" To the point that I seriously question his vocabulary abilities. I had such high hopes back when he was fighting hippogriffs.

I'm just a scoche over the halfway point.

Still rage listening. And cussing.
JFC this is the Fallon show, isn't it?
And WHY are these people inexplicably turned on at the oddest moments?
I'm not finding anything to like about her, but apparently Lucas thinks her awfulness is a turn on. I'm glad I didn't have to write this book, because I'd have started over and burned the character bios long before now to stop the spread of evil.
Total hot mess.

This book is full of overdramatic soap opera style stress. I just spent a good 20 minutes writing a rage review that I'll probably never post.
This author seems to like to use stubbornness as a trait that explains away the poor decisions and bad behaviour the characters dish out. It's a bad fit for me, but I'm trying to deal with it.
Have I mentioned this is a FIFTEEN hour audiobook?

Listening to the audiobook version. Not happy with the male narrator, his main male romantic lead voice is not romantic at all. There's not one bit of sexiness to his voice. This guy's repertoire of vocal characters reminds me of sarcastic slapstick comedy from the 1930's - as performed by 6th grade boys to amuse each other. 😑 it's painful.

Great things about this book:

1. Learning to drive stick in a Porsche.
2. Large, strapping Russian males who are hard on the outside, gooey on the inside. (Although technically we're all gooey on the inside, but I meant it the other way.)
3. Overprotective, overachieving husbands who buy $70 K protective GSD's named Sniper (you know, the Navy Seals of dogs) instead of, you know, a regular companion dog.

I'm a quarter of the way through and still want to bitch slap Thea hard and often. I really don't see why Gavin is attracted to her or is willing to fight to stay married. She's impulsive, controlling, demanding, selfish, and self centered, but gives zero quarter to him. She needs to change or go. Also, sister is an antagonistic little witch.
I was looking forward to this series but I'm not so sure now.

Currently re-reading because this was the first book of the series that I read.

DNS. There's no audiobook version available in my library system and my vision doesn't allow me to read every day.
Will go back to it as I'm able.

I'm having to physically read this one rather than listen to the audiobook.
Why do libraries not own the entirety of books in a series? It's so frustrating.

This is a DNF for now. I tried but just couldn't get past the weird religious dysfunction. I hope to revisit this later in the year when I'm in a different head space.

I'm having a hard time getting through this one. I thought I could overlook the Duggar-esque religious stuff and focus on the romance but my brain won't allow that to happen. 95% or more of the books I ingest are audiobooks, and I can't just quickly skim through the cringey parts and move along to the parts that interest me. (FOMO, y'all)
I think this one may end up being a DNF.
