Chapter 21...an Emily Gilmore reference? WHAT?

This is an interesting read, but I also think it kind of drags. It took forever to get to the point where I was interested enough to where I was actually not wanting to put it down. The characters are very believable, annoying, and make me want to question what happens behind gated communities.

"I guess it’s true, what they say about growing up? You pass all those developmental signs without even knowing it. Leaving your childhood behind, one step at a time. Like you never actually knew the last time you went outside to meet up with all your friends on the block to play freeze tag would be the last time. It happened that way with my secret too."

So far, I'm thinking this book will be NO different. I've marked it as a snoozer or a skip in my list. It's very predictable, full of clichés and everything you think should happen, does. It's comfortable if you want that, but that's it so far.

Her eyes are moist and sad and somehow with that answer, the air instantly changes between us. In a dangerous way. A terrifying way. Because it feels like her air just became my air and I suddenly want to take in fewer breaths in order to ensure she never runs out.
