Excited to re-read an old favourite

Trying to not think about the Baldur's Gate bear scene (failing)

This is second time I've noticed Elston using the word 'weary' when she clearly means 'wary'

I've given this book a very fair shot but I'm just not into it. The mystery isn't drawing me in and the conversations are so quippy it's like reading a marvel movie. Dnf

Okay wow this character just joyfully said he's gonna propose to his girlfriend after he gets back from the dangerous deep dive down to the 100 year old haunted shipwreck...

I thought I would love this but the story and characters just aren't living up to that amazing premise. Dnf

This book keeps telling me (literally) that Perseus is 'The Villain' buuuut it just doesn't track. Perseus isn't the one going around raping everyone (lookin at you Zeus&Poseidon) or the one punishing the women who are the victims (Hera? Athene? Goddess of Wisdom my ass).
Perseus is just a kid trying to stop his mother from being forced into a marriage (more raping). How is that a villain???

Starting this, I was worried I wouldn't remember the story since it's been a while since I read the first book. Turns out that's not a problem... 182 pages in and so far Kvothe is still at university and still doing the exact same things he was doing in The Name of the Wind

I had never heard of a creature called an afanc before, and now it's suddenly made an appearance in two (unrelated) books in a row. So weird how that happens
