What the absolute fuck? And not in a good way.

I have so many feelings about this series and this book. It’s so /real/ and /true/ in that way that great SFF is. Definitely buying it in hard cover for my bookshelf. I don’t have adequate words to express what I’m feeling about this book, but read it if you haven’t already.

There are parts of this that I like but the fact that only one POV character has any consistency in their actions and beliefs is bumping it down from a 4 star to a 3 star book for me.

This book really is just that good. Every element is just coming together so beautifully. Also, I am in dire need of fan art of it...

Took me a bit to get into it, but at this point I can tell this is going to be a five star book unless things go really wrong.

Absolutely loving the worldbuilding so far.

I do love monster babies. They are so cute! Off to a very good start.

A couple interesting ideas so far, but the ableism, among other things, is making me very uncomfortable. Not a great start, but not quite to the dnf pile yet.

I started out really excited about this book. The ideas were fascinating and I was enjoying the characters ... right up until they got to Weep, then it all fell apart. The lack of anything happening to advance the plot and the singular focus on the insta-love romance has completely lost my interest. Don’t think I’ll pick up the second book.

It picked up after a while and I’m back to enjoying it. Still not nearly the book the first one was, but I’m hoping the series will end strong.

I dunno. I’m honestly kind of disappointed with this book after how much I liked the first one. I can appreciate what she’s trying to do, but I’m not finding it nearly as entertaining. Going to keep going and just hope the payoff is worth it.

It has been such a long time since I’ve liked two characters as much as I like these two. I’m so rooting for their happy ending!

I am thoroughly enjoying this book and expect to leave a 5 star review when I finish.

This is not my usual genre, but I’m loving the writing. Really great voice and description that brings you into the scene without being overstated. I’m not even half way through it but I’m sure I’ll be checking out LaValle’s other books when I’m done.

I am having such a good time with this book so far. It’s been a while since I’ve laughed out loud so many times while reading.

Short stories really aren’t my thing, but I’m enjoying this collection anyway. I love the concepts and learning about the worlds.

I really enjoyed the bit between 25% and 40%, but I guess I’m just not invested in the individual storylines. I think it’s fun when they are all interacting but the rest is not holding my attention. (Maybe I just don’t like pride and prejudice stories. I think I’m more of a genre romance person.)

I don’t know, I’m not sold on this book. I don’t see the chemistry between the characters yet and they are rubbing me the wrong way at the moment (Darius is a dick and Zuri is trying to sabotage her sister...)

Oh boy. Words have been exchanged. Got to love starting with that strong enemies vibe. XD

I love Siri. My only complaint so far is that I want more of her and less of the others. I love the others, too, but I want Siri more....

Just read the first chapter. I’m hoping I get a better feel for the characters soon. It feels a little exposition heavy at the moment.

I enjoyed this book and the worldbuilding is fascinating but something about their interactions made me uncomfortable. I enjoy a good alpha male but I feel like the power differential was too steeped in his favor for my tastes. Like, she could have done him harm psychically, but it was all or nothing. She had to rely on him to respect boundaries which he didn’t.

I’m honestly sort of bored by this one so far. Still enjoying the characters but the plot isn’t catching me.

Okay, I love Blay and Qhuinn but..... this book has been less than stellar. I think I’d have enjoyed it a lot if we didn’t skip around so much and then magically resolve everything in the last scene. As is, I liked it but I’m irritated, too.

As much as I love the interludes when I don’t like the couple the book is about, I find them extremely frustrating when I just want to get back to the main couple in the book....

Finally, a worthy opponent! I don’t care for the lessening society for the most part as I find it rather boring, but I’m hoping this new forelesser kicks things up a notch.

Hmm... idk. This one just doesn’t really sit great with me. You don’t get over someone by using someone else and the whole matchmaker situation strikes me as really manipulative. And John still doesn’t deserve Xhex.
