definitely waning in intrigue as of these last 2 chapters but it’s necessary to flesh out the context surrounding Chris Mccandless’ plight into the Alaskan landscape.
Currently on the chapter i find myself, the detailing of Chris homelife and upbringing is incredibly interesting to draw parallels to his childhood habits and curiosity into his adult life and odyssey into Alaska

Really enjoying these last 2 chapters, maybe a little less than those about Franz and others that Alex came into contact with.
These chapters tackle ideology across Mcandless’ philosophical predecessors, Krakauer delegates these views objectively shy from bias, which paints a portrait of these individuals in a nuanced conduct. I can’t necessarily fault these individuals but they’re not entirely blameless

This is a fascinating tour de force of the way the connections we make may forever alter the way another person may live.
The chapter on Alex’s brief stint with Franz was passionately moving and had me entirely reconsider Alex and his odyssey from something I would perhaps scoff at and shake my head to something that has a deep compassionate meaning that perhaps Alex didnt even realise at the time. fascinating

reading beautiful boy was such a heartrendjng experience so going from that to reading tweak to now we all fall down i didnt feel they recaptured that same emotion, they didnt move me as much as beautiful boy did
however the past few chapters of this book with Nic speaking to the school about his experience with drugs genuinely moved me to my core, shame that its only a small portion of this book

so jarring coming from binging a simple plan to reading this again bro 😭
how u gunna write a book and every second word is “uh” or “whatever” cmon man

final chapter now and i have to begrudgingly wait until sunday to finish up this book
i already call it this is a 5/5 book for me, everything is executed flawlessly, the tension, worldbuilding, the prose, the narrative, the pacing.
I genuinely have no idea how this is the authors first book, and one of only two as a matter of fact!!

halfway through chapter 8 now and this book is so unforgiving.
Chapter 6 & 7 read like it could be the climax of the entire book, no punches are pulled
And yet the book keeps going beyond that, its hard to believe we are still strung along for this intense and blood soaked journey

chapter 4 done and dusted.
This was mainly a chapter of reflecting on the absolutely frenetic developments of the third chapter and ruminating on its consequences yet it never felt slow or arduous at all.
Some fantadtic character moments here across the board and a good amount of worldbuilding was presented here too.
theres honestly no predicting anything that can happen in this book. this is such a thrilling ride

Had to re-read these pages after the book club session so i could let the massive plot developments sink in further because, jesus christ this is insanely hectic.
Im really loving the fleshing out of Sarah as a character in these recent pages and her and Hanks dynamic could really just go anywhere at this point in the book. Very excited to see what comes next
