Already getting lost in this story -the plot has me thinking about how all history's heroes feel impossibly larger than life because they were written that way-so much of the raw, dirty, normal human bits glossed over or ommitted altogether, because that makes a better story. I find I like the flawed humans underneath better. Loving these characters & this world!

Current audio with Kevin - this one started slow but then it hit all at once. A really interesting and well-researched book! Best paired with cold dark winter nights, bonus points for snow. I would never have survived the Oregon Trail, (as my gaming history bore out in the 90's). 😬🥶☠

Volume 2 of Emma, LET'S GOOOOOO!

Hitting a very soft pause/dnf on this one. I can tell this is the type of book I could really get into given the right head space (it gave me some light Ken Follett, Pillars of the Earth vibes), but I'm not in the right reading mood for all the Old English at the moment. I'll definitely come back to this one.

I'm going to sit this one aside -- I gave it about a hundred pages but I still found myself not quite pulled in. Honestly, this should be a book I'd really enjoy, but I think I'm just not in the mood for it right now. Planning to come back to it later.

Good gracious. 8 pages in and I can already tell this one is going to break my whole dang heart.
