RITA HAYWORTH AND SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION

Stephen King easily delivers a heartfelt story about the incarceration of two characters, Red and Andy Dufresne. Andy Dufresne is the main focus of the story, which is narrated by Red. We learn about the horrible crimes that landed them in prison, but perhaps most importantly, we learn how incarceration changes the inner workings of a man.

The book has already pulled me into the direction that I had least expected. The horror imagery is written in a clear form of writing. Stephen King undoubtedly makes the list of my favorite authors and this is only the second book that I'm reading from him.

For a moment,Ralph felt himself step back from his life,so he was able to look at the latest section of the mural it made instead of just the detail, which was this day. What he saw frightened him: an unknown road heading into a lightless tunnel where anything might be waiting. Anything at all.

Then turn back, Ralph!

"Drilling the death dance. Not crying, not panicking, not screaming at the approach of death. In Africa, even in times of death, people celebrate. Death becomes a spectacle, a moment of defiance, the defiance of death itself. Staring death in the face, challenging it to a duel. Come and get me, death. I am not afraid of you."

"He couldn’t believe how much his life had changed almost overnight. From an innocent burgher whose experience of shedding blood had been limited to killing rabbits and antelope, he had become fluent in the language of violence. He had butchered men who, individually, had not done anything wrong to him. And now, he had deserted, although he knew that desertion was punishable by death."

The stories in this book is about men who are devoured by loneliness and isolation. The author dig deep into the insight of the protagonists and gives a reader vivid picture of their emotional state. I found most of the characters clearly unconventional and that's what made the book more interesting to me.

Yaa has such an intriguing insight. The storyline and literary prowess is excellent. At first the book seemed like it just navigated between two ancestral lineage split by slavery, and then the end threw me out of my boots- I didn't see how the book owned up to its name until at the at.
