This was written in 1972. It is sad how society has degraded that this is still a novelty.

The tonal change is giving me such whiplash. It keeps oscillating between trying to be serious (stiff), funny (cringe), edgy (cringe), and horror (ott)

And the lesbian character is somehow seeping edgy toxic masculinity which socks because it makes me not like her

Maybe this is unpopular and out of character for who I am as a person but the gay romance is not working for me. I did not buy it in the last book and I'm not enjoying it now. The author uses a lot of pretty words and a lot of fancy metaphors to sell me on this relationship but I do not care. They are trying too hard, trying to manipulate me and I'm not falling for it 😡

The straight romance is better.

A fun read, but I don't know how helpful the advice is to me. Mostly stuff I already know :/
I feel reading the anecdotes and the writing is helpful. There were a few beautiful turns of phrase I'll steal.

The nipple is now tight and taut. Maybe translation weirdness and it is meant to mean hard?
The narrator is such a man. Sumire is telling him how he is her closest and most important friend and he is fantasising about having sex with her. I understand in a way, that this happens, but I have this sinking feeling that if he wasn't secretly in love with her he wouldn't be such a good friend to her.
