I should probably read this before any more. Hockey romances 🙄

I'm not saying it is a continuity error that both the Voyageurs and the Admirals were called the number one ranked team in the same season. I am saying they should clarify why they are both ranked number one like maybe it was different lists or categories like historically vs. currently (although it makes sense for Montreal to be ranked first and MAYBE Scott Hunter to be the top player idk)

“Just,” Shane gasped, “being efficient.”
“So good,” Ilya said, "At time. Management.”

Oh this is painful. Ilya basically ruined his career by going to Ottawa which has such a weak team. He essential ruined his chances of ever getting into the playoffs let along a chance at the Stanley Cup. All for a man!? (No wonder Yuna was appalled when they told her) Ilya gave up so much but Shane's gave up nothing!

If Shane and Ilya ever break up, I think Ilya should get Shane's parents. It only seems fair.

The way the sex scenes are written are better, like more variety in phrasing compared to the last one. There are still (not exactly clichés but) fanfiction turn of phrases. Common phrases you'd see in fanfiction smut and the incorporate it into your own writing. I'm hyper aware I think because I also use them. Stand outs were "heat pooled low in his belly" and "this earned a (sound/reaction) from..."

I cant decide if this is cute or cringe. Some things are so over the top saccharine I literally face palm. Like Ilya has a loon tattoo now? This feels like a very indulgent Heated Rivalry fan fiction (derogatory)

There was no vodka or pasta at his parent's place? Unbelievable 😩

Romance novels are great. They are so easy to read. Why do I waste so much time struggling through novels with 'word building' and 'plot' and 'themes' and big words I need to google and plots I need to use brain-power to focus on?

After Shane's post tuna melt freak out (Tuna melt down?) the narrative changes from calling the other by their last name to their first names which was a great touch (previously in Shane's pov it was always Rosonov and in Ilya's pov it was Hollander)

But also, Shane didnt wash his hands! He fixed his clothes and put on his shoes and left the apartment and walked to his hotel without washing his hands??!

When I watched the show I complained how the stoey felt rushed because it was basically jump cuts between short scenes like vignette without a solid overarching plot tying them together other than the Hollander/Rozanov situationship but yeah that's just how the book is written. In fact the show fleshed out a bunch of the scenes. I feel bad for complaining, they did their best!

The dialogue is great but man, the writing around the dialogue makes me cringe so hard I curl into myself like a snail sprinkled with salt like what is thiiiis?
'"You gonna come for me, Hollander?”
Hollander was going to. And he did'

I have been informed by a subject matter expert (Anisha) that there is a difference between romance novels with sex scenes which I usually read and spicy romance novels (erotica) which have a higher number of sex scenes with more explicit sex scenes.
However aforementioned expert (Anisha) said that Game Changer's writing was especially bad and boring so I will continue to complain about it.

What... what is happening 😂😂 the sex scenes are straight up something from fanfiction, beat for beat, the language, the pacing, the phrasing everything.

Is all smut like this? I havent read enough romance novels to make a judgement 😔
