Függetlenül attól, milyen lesz a következő 237 oldal ez a könyv csak és kizárólag ezért a mondatért fog 1 csillagot kapni.

This is painful. This wins the title of worst book I've ever read.

Switching to audiobook.

I give up. This book is bad. Poorly written, not edited (supposedly yes, but in actuality at least 2/3 of it would have still needed to be cut, because it's utterly pointless), and boring as hell.
I hate giving up on books, so from now on the second best to that: skim reading. To hell with this piece of timewaste.

Ironically updating a social media site with the status started to read a book about why you should delete all you social media accounts.
Maybe by the end of this I will delete this too.

After telling her about her fathers' brain tumor surgery and chances of recovery there is this conversation:
"Wow, that's some short skirt you're wearing. - Nice huh? - What do you do on stairways? - Nothing special. I just let it all hang out. - Do me a favor and use the lifts while you're in the hospital. I can't afford to have any more patients. I'm way to busy as it is"
Not funny.

Word a woman of that time would never say:
'More men died of infection, then from the loss of blood.'

'Scepticism' the incredibly inappropriate use of words is very very distracting and breaks the immersion experience every couple of pages.

'Particles of wool' no, that's a 20th century way to put it. Are there not other words in the English language to express a small part of a thing, a part of a thread? Why would a writer bother looking up appropriate words for her novel?

'Burn everything belonging to him'.
Highly unlikely in an age where they did not know how infectious diseases worked.

Apollo lord of mice, because mice carry the plague. Which a woman living in the age of Achilles and the Trojan war would not know.
The face that it is probably not true not even to the extent that the fleas of the rats carry the disease is just a cherry on top of this pile of inaccurate shit.

A bit before using the word 'cupboard' to describe a small storage room.
'First recorded in 1275–1325, cupboard is from the Middle English word cuppebord.'

'Rat kebabs' in Achilles' camp.
Fuck yeah historical inaccuracy.

Just before this book I read two books by James Baldwin, and now this one has an epigraph from him.

This book is the most sexist, macho trash that I have ever read. The two main characters (the titular Zorba and the narrator) are both horrible people. And the narrator is admiring the old sex-crazed sexist like a guru. And literally says that if he were a real man then he would just go and rape a woman from the village that struck his fancy. The whole thing is disgusting.
