So they took Dantes Inferno and jumbled it up, tossed in some adventure and some more recent characters and there you go. The story follows Mithridates VI former king of Pontus, having just been arrested for trying to stage a coup in hells managerial office. Now having been tossed into a lower circle of hell hes joined by Amelia Earhart of all people and I guess there trying to find a way out?

Robert E Howard knows how to not waste a guys time. 30 pages in and theres already a voodoo man summoning up a swarm of vultures to harass an army of vampires. I guess undead is close enough to dead for a scavengers palate?

Will and Jim are scamps. The picture being painted is that ones going to grow up to be a regular old fellow, the other into some sort of mild delinquent. Also Will's father is just too damn old. Theres also a ton of foreshadowing of sinister events to come and a creepy carnival is coming into town. None of these things mean anything to me just yet because the pace crawls.
