I’m torn on how to rate this one, because it was a fun read, but Crane is a creep and possibly a predator. Would have been 4 stars if he’d been less icky.

This book spoke to me and somehow healed parts of me that I didn’t know needed healing. Not to mention that, as a tall, tattooed woman with an administrative job, I deeply related to Lily. This might be my favorite read of the year.

I’m giving this 4 stars, but would give it 3.5 if I could. I love this world, and this book is a good time, but the motivations were pretty flimsy and annoying.

The internet tells me this book picks up halfway through, but I didn’t make it that far. I don’t want to have to slog through half of a book when it’s a standalone.

Note to self and future readers - Read the Warden’s books in release date order. Don’t do what I did and suggest diving into this one early. That said, it’s a short one, so I’ll read it again now, re-read it again later if I need to. 😅

I tried, but I couldn’t get past the icky guardian/ward groomer vibes. 🤢 DNFing about 2/3 through.

Marking this as a soft DNF. I might go back to it eventually, but other books are keeping my interest more right now.

I adore these characters and the writing style, but I’m finding book 2 more of a slog so far. That said, I love these two MMCs enough that I absolutely want to finish, even if it takes me while
