I'm having an absolute blast with this one! These characters are just so well rounded, clever and funny!

You even get some internal chapters of the criminals and it's hilarious! (Conny is an absolute favourite)

Really curious where this is all leading!

It's so much fun!

These twists are very twisty! Can't help myself from discussing it with my boyfriend because all these people are just so messy! Ever wondered what people say behind each others back, this is the book for you! 🤣

The characters are very clear at this point, there are a few key narrators that bring everyone up to speed on things. We're truly having fun with this narrative device now, all sorts of texts, pamphlets and reports are coming in now.

Hope this doesn't go the way of revealing who died in the last twenty Pages, but I don't think so...and we have a pretty clear image who is going to get it! 😂

Having a blast with this one!
I love epistolary novels, so this is true catnip for me!

It takes a while to get to know the main players, but there's a handy who's who on page 15 that I keep flipping back to every now and then.

I feel we'll have about 4 to 5 suspects depending how this all plays out...

I thought about DNF-IBG this. But I've chosen to root for the entity to take this protagonist, and it's made the book a lot more fun! Yes, go barefoot with no light to investigate that weird sound! Yell "is anyone there, please show yourself!" 🤣

I had serious flashbacks by the kids bad behavior, reminded me why I left primary school teaching! But Ruth usually delivers and the weird techno house in the woods shows promise, so I'm sticking with it!

Not loving our protagonist either though. It's the same type as in that boat and I wished someone had pushed HER over! 😂

What a ride this is! I love the stories of both these books running through eachother. The characters are so amazing, the writing style is fantastic and I love the moments where people show who they will later become! (Bev. upscaling here dirt poor outfit to show the fashion designer she'll become!)

I have no idea where we're going, but I'm on the edge of my seat (even though this is like 800 pages or something!)

This is the biggest book I'll probably ever read. Thank god for the brilliant audiobook read by Steven Webber to give me a chance to flip between reading and listening.

I absolutely love this one!
The writing style adds so much, the switching between ages and times to flesh out everyone's characters is awesome! Stephens also writes a lot of side stories in this novel, which have standalone quality. Love it!

Such a pleasant surprise of a book!
It's waaay better written, its way more enthraling and creepy and way more fun than I ever imagined.

If you think this is just some old dusty story, you're definitely wrong! I know a lot of the twists to come through stereotypes. But that's because this book is the origin of them. And it will still surprise and thrill you in it's execution.

Another 20% done, now around the halfway mark. Every page still has a point, has new information or drives you forward in character or plot. This is a story that would never be anything I like to read, but I'm a 100% in. (Just have little time to read because I'm having a rather active holiday.)

This could all be fumbled in the end, but then I've still has one H. of a ride so far, LOVE THIS! 🤎

Love this to bits at the moment! There's a perfect buildup, every other page there's a new little plot twist and as always Stuart's world building is unlike anything you've ever read!

Can't wait to see where this apocalyptic paradise is taking me next! 🤎

Oh this is GOOD!!!

So much fun from a pure detective fiction standpoint. But the fact this is a book actually written in 1930's Japan really makes me so very very happy! I was fully invested from page 2!

Tip: put on some Meijo Kaji while reading. Her songs just seem to fit naturally with this book!

The mystery has fully kicked off now, I've got a good set of theories going!

The other characters deliver a lot of fun and flavour, that keeps me going.

The main POV still get's on my nerves by her sheer incompetence in having a high stakes journalism job and minus Zero networking skills. At this point she'd get more done if she actively said nothing and stood shy in a corner! 🤣

I'm seriously thinking of dnf-ing this. Even Ruths magnificent characterization and wit can't save the main heroïne for me.

Filled with angst, self doubt, unprofessional and incompetent , at this point a pure alcoholic, ...and then there's the sleep deprivation I hate experiencing. And we're on the brink of throwing gaslighting in there too?!
Honey, leave some trauma for the rest of us!

I'm having a blast with this one!

I thought this would be an unknown detective spy story. Turns out it's Poirot and hastings doing the James Bond-ing!

Someone suggests it was a short story collection and that's accurate! It's small little adventures and challenges that are slowly bringing Poirot closer to uncovering the criminal ring!

It's funny, action packed and Hastings finally fell like an actual duo!

Oye that beginning was a slog! It's not Fry's fault, you need to understand the basics before moving on, but it took a while to really get going with all the big stories you're waiting for!

If you ever want to start reading and learning about all this it's well worth the show (But still very witty and funny) beginning. Once Zeus enters the stage you'll get one brilliant story after another!

This book is just great fun. I know absolutely nothing of Outlander, but I have no trouble understanding anything. (The protagonists are mentioned if you're a fan, but they don't have a bearing on the story at hand.)

I really like the narrative so far. There's a lot of humor, a plot that seems to slowly grow in intrigue and the protagonist is really likeable, and relatable. I love what I'm reading!
