Let’s see if try number two is better.

The two previous Feeney thrillers have been some of my favorite in the genre. Unfortunately, this book is not going well.

Absolutely, well written, and I am loving all the small insights we get into the author's life, but as such an established reader with focus habits, preferences, and an annotating system, and also works in the library, this book's target appears not to be me.

Not me being disappointed with the first 10 chapters to now being in chapter 16 and being gripped.

I am enjoying myself, but aside from the vampire attack in the first chapter, which serves to bring the two characters to live together, this is a very low-stakes story. We are following them day by day, and the ridiculous reasons that are stopping them from being together. I find I'm a bit bored by the lack of plot, and I only have 25 % left to go.

I think I know where this is going and I’m no longer entertained.
