This is the most long winded, lackluster, sci-fi adventure book I’ve had the displeasure of listening to.

A mix of twilight yearning, magicians schooling, and ninth house darkness.
Creative idea, but over use of decorative, superlative words.

Did like a single quote: … door made from the use of the bones from dead trees.

Again, points for the creative description of wood that fits the overly dramatic and overtly shadowy tone.

I feel the author is trying so desperately to make this book more tense than it really is. Everything is dramatic. Overly so.

The Magicians (without the adult content), Evernight (without the Vampires), and a wink towards Hogwarts if ran by Muggles.

The author goes off on a tangent quite a bit and over explains things. Stating the same thing over and over again in different ways.

Has held my attention since the first few pages! Action packed and mysterious
