Color me impressed ! Not only did female character appear, but also people of diverse ethnicity.
The women and females are rather well portrayed ans life-like, even if they are made to be the partners of the primary male protagonists.
10 years after the last books, they don't feel like they have changed much, but peace did do them some good, especially in the baby-making department. This isn't whithout challenges...

I know I started Valdemar in the chronological order and that's not the easiest begining. I can feel in the text that some things aren't explained thoroughly because I'm supposed to already know the world and lore.
Nevertheless, I love the characters (Amberdrake is my soulmate) and what I see of the world. There are too few female protagonists for now, but it's changing, and it's setting up to be a very good story.
