It was hard getting through like the first 30 pages because Eleanor is just kind of a bitch? And clueless? Like, ma'am, pick a struggle.
But now, I get it. She went through the ringer. I still wouldn't want to try to be her friend, but her behavior matches to what she's used to survive.

Bro, why did any of these people want to join an open, collaborative, group living society when none of these people collaborate, communicate, or can maturely and accurately assess their feelings, or anyone else's?
I'm loving the mess, but I'm judging. I may be rolling my eyes, but they're staying open whe whole time to not miss any drama, y'know?

At first I was disappointed since I went in thinking this was a book about a girl infiltrating a cult. And there were only 4 other people. But so far she really plays off on the interesting dynamics between small groups of people. I do feel the characters really didn't have a fair shot. They went in too deep too fast, too unprepared. Living off the land takes time to cultivate and mature- it isn't easy.

Aaaaaaaaand they've connected the dots. And they're pissed.
