I keep getting Mexican Gothic vibes from it

I was enjoying this vastly then it took a strong Christian turn. The first mention or two I was cool with but when it started repeating things that could be, as I view, to someone believing it strongly I lost all desire to read the rest of this series.

About a third of the way through and it just keeps feeling like The Magicians and at least three other books I have read.

Finding this a little lacking and not sure in what manner but too far in to dnf

Not sure if it but sort of like a few other thrillers

Slow going but the story is at least interesting to me

World building is a little weak. Get Magicians vibe from it

I remember why I was not a huge fan of this as a child. It's very cut and dry of the ilk of and this happened then this happened. No real internal reflection.

I clearly recall why I had a hard time with this book in school and why it has been placed on my did not finish shelf more than once. I am going to try and finish it.

Sucked me right in and has not let me go

I have the newest edition of this and her reflection in the beginning of how this book started and the ideals she had in the 1970s vs. what has happened in 2020 is a deep reflection on how this country has not changed in that time.

Loving the world building and magic system

The main characters reaction to a food truck rally when she herself is a chef just feels completely wrong and not a single foodie type person worth their salt would have been like ew no food trucks.
