Listening on audiobook, which I think was a good choice. It feels like one of those books where most of the experience is a bit drab like an outfit made of neutral tones — not bad, just not exciting — because really odd things are told in such a matter-of-fact way. But if this is like others I’m thinking of, it’ll pack a punch. We’ll see.

This is due back at the library so I’ll have to pick it up another time. It’s interesting, but the writing is a little too flat to fully hook me in. I love Reddit stories, and it reads like a Reddit story (where in fact it originated), but getting through a full novel of that writing style is just a little tough as it’s written in a factual style that lacks momentum.

I heard the third one was really good so I started at the beginning of the series. A fun YA read so far, reminds me of watching Criminal Minds.

Want it to be scarier than it is. I’m already a tough sell on possession stories, and this is more gross than scary so far.

I’m listening to the audiobook because it was available immediately on Spotify Premium, and the narrator is great! Glad I chose to go that route instead of waiting for the print copy to come in.

It’s overall interesting and well written, but the lack of plot momentum and quiet, gentle prose keeps sending me staring off into space or nodding off. I definitely want to finish it, but it’s been a struggle to before it’s due at the library…

Not really enjoying after the first chapter. No likable or even interesting characters, and the writing is lackluster. Might DNF.
