This book is hilarious 😂

This is such a joy to read. I can see the influences he had on Vonnegut. I can’t believe I haven’t read it sooner.

This book is the epitome of telling rather than showing. Now the narrator needs to step in to explain to me what should have been made clear in the first 90% of the book in order for this ending to make any sense.

Im struggling…. I can’t with this forced romance. These characters have zero chemistry and I’m STILL waiting for more interactions with Painter’s stable nightmare plot. All I’ve gotten from his world is dress shopping, showers, trips to the same ramen shop, and boribg conversations with boring characters. I get it: Yumi is learning to feel like a freaking real human. I got that like 200 pages ago!

Im not going to lie… the pacing of this book is so jarringly slow after having just finished Leviathan Wakes. Almost comically slow. Please… for the love of god, give me some good dialogue, some action, a slight hint at romance… anything! Don’t make me read more descriptions of them taking ritual baths and stacking stones.

Im gonna finish it… but goddamn do I hate everybody in this book.

So far every single male character with the exception of Rodrigo is either an idiot, easily manipulated, an asshole, or actually evil. Even Rodrigo is working for the evil ones lol.. but I can’t say that I like the female characters much either though. Im getting really close to 100 pages with very little to show for it

This has got to be the most overrated book I’ve encountered on Goodreads. It’s not the worst book I’ve ever read, but I honestly expected so much more from a book rated above 4.5. There is just so much about this book that I dislike but I will keep putting up with because I like the romance parts.

I thought this was a fantasy series but it feels like it’s gearing up to be hardcore erotica. 🤣 this is by far the thirstiest protagonist I’ve ever read. Within three chapters they’ve talked about sex like5 times and she has gone through long monologues about how sexy, unbelievable sexy, earthshakingly sexy, etc etc… these men are.

I don’t really care if a book has lgbt representation if it propels the story forward or adds character development to established characters but the forced trans and gender stuff is annoying. There is literally no reason to include a random female soldier talking about how they have papers to live as a man other than to check off bs representation boxes. It doesn’t move the story forward.
