I'm around halfway, and I think I'll pull the plug on this one. I RARELY abandon a book, but I just don't see the point of this. I'm disappointed, because I loved "A Prayer for Owen Meany." I did not love "A Widow for One Year," but I thought I'd give this one a chance. Alas, the characters are uninteresting and the writing dull. And it was expensive! Bummer.

I just turned 45, so I figure it's time to tackle something serious. I was surprised at how funny the first chapter was.

Starts out just as silly as the first book. Wahoo!

This book is deliciously dumb. Magic, witches, vampires, Oxford ... a veneer of academia, but really, it's just witches and vampires. Escapism.
