I've been gritting my teeth trying to power through all the casual antisemitism in this book when Sayers drops "tar baby" into the mix. I don't believe in censorship because books like these accurately depict the attitudes of the majority at the time, but it's always jarring when otherwise likeable characters remind you that all this was totally acceptable and normal then.

Eeeyuck! Look, I generally dislike the love interest portion of these books on principle—they don't typically add anything, and sometimes they detract. Reacher wearing his dead brother's clothes and sleeping with his dead brother's (evidently serious) ex is trifling. Because it's not love. They're not soulmates. It's just sex. Find someone else. Sheesh!

Why wouldn't Feehan have made Skyler older when she met Dimitri? Even just 18 would've been better.

Ugh. Josef is so annoying.

This may be my least favorite book in the series (at least right now).

Ugh. I hate Carmen. Begging. Whining. Guilting. Calling him a racist. Calling him a coward. Let me go ahead and increase the speed on this audiobook because I already need this to be over.

I couldn't be Reacher for a lot of reasons but this woman never really answering his questions while simultaneously assuming and insisting that he's obligated to help her with something she still hasn't bothered to explain is definitely near the top.

Gawd, I hate how the narrator sounds doing women's voices.
