the commentary is such a drag, oh my days. I know that’s the point, but I think I’m done putting in so much effort – I’ll have to start skimming the more tiresome footnotes. I did not want to have to do this for my first Nabokov novel, especially as this one’s hailed as his magnum opus, but Kinbote is simply too frustrating!! Oh well, I swear I gave it my best shot 😭

I’m liking this book so far but I wish the chapters were a bit longer and more in depth, it’s what I’d prefer for a self-help book. Or maybe they’re just right and I’ll realise that when I go over my highlights once I’m done with it, we’ll see.

goodreads is messing with meee it keeps marking a book i've read only once as read twice omg. i've never been so annoyed by this website in all the years i've used it. how could you betray me in this way????
