Some books you read because of the title or the cover, some you read because of the author, others still you “read” because of the narrator. This was one of those for me and Kirby Heyborn was just as great as I’ve come to expect. The story itself was sweet and tender and thought provoking for me. I would love to see this one at book club.

Kasi is reading The Ballad of Never After (Once Upon a Broken Heart, #2)
I didn’t like this one as much as the first book. Way too much sexual tension and deception. I’ll still be reading the 3rd book because I’ve gotta hear how it ends.

Good clean book. I enjoyed the spooky stories contained within a story. Well written and a nice escape.

I didn’t finish this one- too much going on at home to get sucked into it. I wasn’t loving the writing style as it felt unfocused. I doubt I’ll revisit this in the future.

I had to bail on this book. There was too much going on in my life to give it the mental attention it deserves. I plan to revisit in the future when my kiddos are less of a distraction.

Kasi is reading The Wishing Spell (The Land of Stories, #1)
While I enjoyed the overall story, I didn’t appreciate some of the language that was used. I read this aloud to my 3rd grade daughter (which I feel is a very applicable target audience) and had to edit some of the content. Words that were used were not appropriate for the age group that will be reading about a fairy tale world. Disappointed that Colfer didn’t recognize his target audience better.
