Oh my word. The scene at Coney Island where Vincent throws balls in a carnival game at Hitler’s face. 😭 the writing in this book is absolutely beautiful.

I really enjoy the historical fiction aspect of the story, but the romance side just got to be too much. Will probably not finish the series, but wish there were another option of historical fiction set in this time rather than all the WWII stuff out there these days.

Absolutely one of the most impactful books I’ve ever read. And I’m only halfway done.

Compulsively readable. Page turning can’t put downable. Tons of content warnings but man. I can’t wait to find out how it ends.

Backman had done an excellent job even just in the first few chapters of this book in reorienting the reader to the world of Beartown. Loving it so far. ♥️ it feels good to be back.

Reading a story or two every day with Madi has been a joy. She picks - sometimes the same story over and over - current favorites are Plip Plop and the Mean Tiger stories.

It’s taken so much effort for me to get into this book. I finally read the synopsis last night and it’s helped wrap my mind around the plot. But still. This one is work.
