A confusing part was when Averan and the green woman ran away from Roland and Baron Poll, even she couldn't explain why as shown on page 247, "She couldn't explain to them why she had to leave, she had a strange feeling growing since yesterday" this shows why its a bit confusing since she knows she had to leave but can't really explain why,

I was confused on why Binnesman needed some opals. Earlier that day Binnesman asked Iome and Myrrima for opals. They got him some and he did a little magic show with them and he kept one with a Sun bright glow, and when he was asked if this would kill the arriving Darkling glory, he replied "Kill a glory? I hadn't though of that. I only hope to capture it(217)." This show how difficult to kill a glory can be.

A happy part was when Gaborn gave a third warning to his people they took more important things with them. One morning Gaborn warned all to prepare to flee, but everyone just left immediately,they even left their kids! But when Gaborn warned them when to flee they calmed down and got their children and stuff.The quote "Iome watched a few guards helping the Dedicates(168).Shows how calmer and less panicked they are.

I was interested to learn how the people would find out how a king died and why. To figure it out, they had the king's wits, men who had endowed the king with the use of their minds, letting their skulls become vessels for another man's memories. But they were always in fragments.Usually they would argue,for example the quote "No, our king did not die in battle. I recall falling from a tower. I remember falling"(152)

I was surprised that Iome and Myrrima was going to take endowments from puppies. It was confusing to find out especially because Iome is against this sort of thing. The quote "As a princess, she had refused to take endowments from another person, to risk a human life." clearly shows that they're most likely to take endowments because killing pups would be a big waste.

At some point I was afraid that Myrrima would've watched her husband, Borenson die after he'd lost a challenge, she was both mad and worried, especially since he didn't tell her. After the challenge was over he was alive and when she asked he said, "I tried to find you, but you weren't at the king's feast nor the games"(97). Then I figured out, Myrrima should've at least told someone to tell Borenson where she was.

A part that made me feel sad was when Groverman offered to give Gaborn an Iome endowments from pups. This is because the person/animal who gives one will expirience extreme pain, the pups would suffer. What made me happy was when Gaborn says "I have no need to take endowments from dogs"(58), because now Iome was not going to make puppies suffer. After that Gaborn decieded to take many dogs and train them to fight.

I was surprised at how fast Gaborn adapted to his earth powers. When Gaborn was earth king he knew he had powers but didn't know how to use them, luckily his wizard had helped him. The quote, "If you hear my voice warning you in your mind, obey me"(24). Shows how he got used to it in just three weeks, he can now "communicate" to others not needing to be there!

A important part was when Gaborn's father,Orden committed suicide by jumping himself off the edge of an observatory,Orden's death was both sad yet helpful,by killing himself not only did sorrow arrive but he had created a serpent ring,by being the head and dying the next one would be able to rise up and fight.Orden states"Let Shostag fight, let my son inherit birthright."(536).This shows how his death was important.

The army of Longmot is stronger than they look. When Raj and his men went towards Longmot, a rain of arrows was fired towards him, he tried to avoid it, but was hit and realized that the arrow contained poison and nearly died. The quote, "He willed his heart to beat again, willed it to start"(477). This shows how smart and powerful Longmot is, they nearly killed the strongest Runelord!

I was surprised when king Orden chose to cut up the duke of Longmot's corpse. When Orden was in Longmot's treasury he found out that the duke had been using forged money. He then proceeded to cut the duke's intestines and throw him in the moat. Orden says "The man doesn't deserve another night of royal hospitality"(411).This show how bad it must be to use fake money. Therefore, It was a surprising reaction but fair.

I was baffled when I saw how amazing the healing powers of the earth can be.Gaborn was fired at by a reaver mage. Gaborn fought,however he didn't kill the reaver, it retreated, breaking Gaborn's ribs. He fainted, when he woke,he felt cold but warm when touching the earth.Soon after they see a statue(with one of seven stones)fall. Binnesman said"It may be the end of the world"(360)Because the stones hold up the earth.

Gaborn's bodyguard,Borenson,always gets the job done but now he has
a problem.Borenson must kill all who helped Ahten.King S,Princess Iome have helped Ahten,So Borenson has to kill them,but Gaborn made oath to protect them,so Borenson would've to kill Gaborn,but he wouldn't hurt his Prince."If he carried out Orden's orders,he could be executed for striking the prince"(322).This shows why Borenson wouldn't hurt them.

Some internal character traits about Raj Ahten's counselor Jureem. Some Character trait he shows are caution and intellect. For example the quote"'I think we are betrayed my lord.' Jureem said glancing at the days" This shows that he was suspicious about the days; the days are able to communicate to one another about what their king has done, however they are also able to tell secrets.

I was amazed when I learned what flameweavers could do. After death their powers are still alive which can allow them to take a sort of human form and be able to get revenge and grow till the flame dies out." A strong f.w can't be killed.She can be disembodied,in time she will dissipate...a moment of consciousness,where the full power of the f.w is unleashed(146)."This proves that a f.w can still destroy after death.

Theme in Ch.13 is Sacrifice.Its because Someone can only loose endowments if the one who gave it dies,and Raj took over 40k forcefully so King Orden can either kill or use those,Orden's son Gaborn,could've forced to give up endowments, meaning that Orden could've to kill his son. Quote:"If he has my son then he will offer my son...If so then you know what to do" meaning he would've to kill his son if it happens(213).

This shows that Katniss is starting to really love Peeta. Therefore, that's why Katniss thinks that the romance is real."

In chapter 10, Iome has show a bunch of bravery. A few ways she's brave is when Iome in horror, watches Raj Ahten "convince"her father to give Ahten his endowments of wit.The quote "Chemoise had wide,frightened eyes.She began weeping when she saw the king lying on the floor.Shrieked when Ahten's guard took her to the window poised to throw."(187) shows that Iome would risk C.M. life.Therefore for Iome is very brave.

When Gaborn, Rowan, and Binnesman went into a garden I was both surprised that when Gaborn was about to make a vow (to the earth), literally earth walked towards and spoke to him about the vow and what he would have to to with the earth as allies (part of the vow). Gaborn had some internal conflict going on. He wasn't too sure if he should take it for the consequences would be both dangerous + helpful(pg 155, 156).

I was completely confused, shocked and face palming when I read, "... she heard the gears to the main portcullis grind, and the drawbridge began to lower"(page 126). This quote shows that the people practically let the one man trying to control the world, into King Sylvarresta's castle. And when he and his daughter shouted for them to put the drawbridge higher to it's first position. All guards try to stop but fail.

Gaborn could possibly be the assassin that killed Dreys. The quote "Gaborn had Endowments of brawn from 3 men"(58), shows that he had that same kind endowment that the assassin had: 5 of brawn, 3 of grace, one of stamina, one of wit, one of metabolism, one of hearing, and one of sight. On previous pages it mentioned that Gaborn had 5 endowments of brawn, 3 of grace, one of stamina,one of hearing,and one of sight.

I was surprised on pages 6-7 when an assassin tried to kill all for a book when he could've merely asked, there was quite a bit of violent descriptions such as "The blade veer low and struck deep, slid up through his belly, past shattered ribs."

On page 63, I was surprised when Malefactor doesn't give Sherlock the information he needs to gain more information. Information is like gold to Malefactor, it's a precious thing to him. So, instead he game him a hint.

On pages 33 and 34 I was confused when Irene said that she isn't speaking to Sherlock Holmes as if she hated him or as if she didn't want to see him even though in the past she has helped and enjoyed helping him.
