Sara is starting I, Spy
Unlikable characters - even the 4 year old. Boring scenes which slowly plod forward. Didn’t finish - too many other good reads waiting for me.

So far the characters are all unlikable which makes for a tough slog. By page 130 they’ve signed estate papers, eaten lunch at a bunch of ethnic restaurants and watched kids soccer games. Snoozing

Amazing writer and gripping plot. Sure to be an absolute favorite but nonetheless plodding at times - like a visually exotic train voyage punctuated by intermittent vistas of endless grassy fields.

Absorbing, riveting and very insightful. The author is credible, experienced and knowledge. Also a skilled writer.

Sara is starting The Snowman (Harry Hole, #7)
I am listening to this in the car while commuting and it is terrifying - even in balmy Florida far from the deep snows of Norway.

Sara is starting A Delicate Truth
I have been hankering for some Le Carre and this is fitting the bill for finely plotted, oh so subtle put pulsing with tension fiction.

Halfway through and all I can say is that Tartt, who I've always enjoyed reading, needed a good editor on this one- whole scenes which do nothing but hit the reader over the head with the same horror should have been cut. Quite surprised at the fan following this has received. Every character is a stereotype - from the Mom to Xandra and the Barbours, doesn't anyone in this novel have a real emotion?
