Wow, much smoother writing than in the first book. Characterization is noticeably stronger than in the first book.

I'm reading the e-book version, but there is only a paperback version listed on Goodreads. Luckily, I know math.

Ahhh, how I've missed American Literature. A selfish pleasure, and then back to work. (The next book on my work list will be fun.)

Damn. I just found out this is #5 of a series. Thanks for marking your books, Carlos. Anyhow, in some ways thisfeels a lot like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by its semi-fictional telling, but not nearly as engaging. So for it is awkwardly funny, but I'm not sure that is what he wanted to portray. I'm going to try to give it to page 100 and reassess.

I'm almost finished. Review will come shortly.

Only a few stories left. This is the book I read on the light-rail to Portland. Two more trips by train and this book will be finished.

Finished Jake Elliot's 'Joy Ride.' He's holding his own amongst several fantastic authors. It will be hard to pick my five fave's from this collection. Each story is fresh and enjoyable.

Athena is a fantastic writer. I would like to be this good. This is not a book I'd normally have picked up, but the writing is magical.

The first 4 stories were good, but the 5th story by Amy Braun was sublime. A twisted viewpoint, the tale really hit the right chord with me.

Finished another story, The Pool of the Black One. Good, but not as good as several of the earlier tales. Still, Conan rocks.

I passed the 1/2 way mark. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes darker fantasy. This book makes me wish I had more time to read.

I usually avoid updates but I'm taking too long with this book. A well written and fast beginning, but I felt I needed to play catch up to figure out who the players are. However, now 60 pages in, I feel better acclimated to the characters. Hopefully I can finish this one soon.
