I really enjoyed this book, it’s a period of British history I know very little about. I think Middle Ages / Dark Ages / Medieval history is fascinating especially as it’s so ignored. History in schools has too many gaps- great to into the weeds of one of these gaps, it’s not an easy read, I think my vocabulary is ok, but I used a dictionary loads of times and I learned loads of legal and political terms

Excellent, Agrippa is a favourite character of mine and this is a comprehensive and very well sourced biography, excellent footnotes and appendix A on Roman hierarchy is excellent. I’ve heard the author being interviewed and really enjoyed hearing him, so I expected a great book and got it
