Very fun so far!

Intelligibly written action sequences, at last!

I like the combination of genre saviness and its lack—there are a lot of fairy tale rules to remember, and it’s understandable that characters would lose track of some.

She writes neuroticism so well.

This is one of the places it feels like a stretch—red might be the color of love and war, but it feels reductive to assume Diana was a honking of either of these things when she chose that color.

I appreciate all the context, but I wish the author wasn’t so judgy about some of the looks. Why does she get to say that some looks or colored tights are “bad”? I’m not into the cropping of parts of photos she doesn’t like and the implication that there’s a du foe right way to wear certain things, especially when so much of the point was that Lady Di rebelled against what she was expected to wear.

The clone seems weirdly unconcerned about the call logs and witnesses though???

A little confused—is this stuff with Teo a flashback or is it happening right now?

“I’m confusing myself so I’ll end this here.” This is so cringe.

Back in 2013, it might not have been as possible to scroll through a celebrity/influencer’s feed and this would’ve felt radically intimate. In 2026 though … it feels substanceless and scattered.

Hmm this isn’t quite what I expected. No introduction, no clear through line, just a series of photo and a quick story/rant. I thought I was getting a more straightforward memoir.

Starting to make sense of the characters now

Lots of characters and I haven’t gotten them all sorted out yet, but I’m enjoying the story so far.

So far enjoying these bite-sized stories

Kinda standard shonen stuff—beefing with yakuza, with great power comes great responsibility—but the dad’s goofy goldfish thing and the obvious care given to the sword smithing is standout.

The dialogue isn’t ringing true. None of Laurel’s reactions feel correct, and it’s especially unwelcome for her to be ogling her naked friend while being shy and ashamed of her own body.

Not clear to why Hex is so nasty—I don’t think this is depicted well. Also strange that the witches are so obsessed with balance and yet so hands off?

Laurel comes off a very young and naive. I also don’t really feel like I know who all the witches are—too baby of them introduced all in one lump

Enjoying the pace of the world-building so far. The protagonist is a little distant but at least active.

Finding it depressing that everyone in 2008, even as far away as Beijing, was basically just dressing as “rawr means I love you in dinosaur.” I was hoping to see more variety here.”

I can’t really digest these photos as art, but I can appreciate them as a kind of historical archive + social commentary.

Seems a little strange to start a discussion of fashion history in the 50s. Why not the 20s when girls became more financially independent and the flapper lifestyle rose? What about the advent of film or the Industrial Revolution?? I am enjoying the green pages though
