Definitely enjoying retelling.

Rarely am I so enraptured by an audiobook. Even with the narrator's accent, I'm able to devour this tale at double speed and lose all track of time. This is a marvelously written and orated novel. Easily one of the best I've read to date.

Ugh, I hate when I can guess or figure out the ending

I'm very glad 2x audiobook speed exists cause I am bored af. This is one of those where I can listen at higher speed while playing a phone game or baking. Ugh. I just want to finish it.

Actually, on second thought, I have no interest in re-reading this series. I'm content to leave it in the past where it helped a younger me through a very difficult time and just leave it at that. Not because I don't want to "ruin" the series. But because it's not really relevant to me now and there are other books/media I'd like to consume instead with my limited time.

DNF at 33%. I kept thinking Clauneck was an odd sounding surname that didn't quite fit with "Yale" as a first name. I also was not amused by the "evil bankers that control everything from the shadows" trope. Then I actually checked how Yael is spelled and looked into name meanings.. *sigh* I am really, really tired of the "Jews are evil bankers who control everything from the shadows" propaganda. Really tired of it.

I'm riveted.

This is the point in my reading challenge when I ask myself if I read a bit too much. Yes, the audiobooks keep my mind busy while I'm knitting or puttering around the house. Yes, I hate having to pause for sleep or work. Yes, reading helps when I'm stuck inside during the infernal summer heat. So I guess, no, I don't read too much. I read the right amount for me.
P.S. I'm determined to read more books then last year.

It's interesting how haunting it is to read about a sociopath/psychopath after you survived a relationship with one (or multiple). All of them are different in ways, yet the craving for control and violation of boundaries persists regardless. It's merely finding what feeds the vices for the individual. In my experiences anyway.
