So far it feels like catching a strange literary virus in the best way. It infects your perspective, dismantles the innocence of reading and rewires your brain to decode symbols, archetypes, and patterns. You will never look at a simple rainstorm, a shared meal, a cauldron or even a skyscraper in fiction the same way again. Now I start noticing a retelling of the old stories in a new way.

O brave new world…. A universal human tendency to mythologize what lies beyond our grasp and project salvation onto new horizons.

Symbols serve as a vital link between our conscious awareness and the deeper, often hidden layers of the psyche.

Interesting to see how the cult of personality is portrayed:

Chapter 18 brought tears to my eyes. The way Circe describes Telegonus growing from a tiny bundle into this curious, restless little being. Raising a curious child is one of the quiet joys of parenting. You want them to explore, to grow bold and confident, yet there’s always that shadow of fear that the world might bruise them. So far, this has been the most moving part of the book for me.

Reading Minotaur & Pasiphaë story from the Circe perspective reshapes the Minotaur myth. Through her eyes, the story becomes less about monstrosity and more about injustice, survival, and the quiet humanity of Daedalus. Magic, indeed, lies in the details and Miller reminds us that the details live in the books.

There is quiet a joy in watching Circe uncover nature’s secrets on her own. Her hunger for knowledge is boundless, radiant. Not all wisdom is handed down by mentors, some is wrestled from the world in solitude.

Circe’s heart is under the spell of the IKEA effect, she’s smitten with Glaucos not for who he is, but because she assembled the idea of him herself. It’s a divine DIY romance, standing in stark contrast to Helios’s plans for an arranged match. Love marriage vs. arranged marriage, Olympian edition.
