This is such an interesting glimpse into a cosy late-70s masculine empathy fantasy. Tonic masculinity. Where everybody knows your name, but with a splash of x-files. I don’t know how prevalent this mentality was at the time- enough in some circles to win the Hugo I guess. I haven’t run into anything problematic yet and hoping it stays that way, but I like it so far.

Vibes, which I’ve struggled to pin down to this point. Red Mars in its humanism, 3 body/dark forest in its deus ex machina excuses to keep around the same characters on an abnormal time scale, bits of aniara. Some BDO going on but not explored archaeologically as I like. Sensing a solid 4 stars incoming

I had forgotten how much of a character the car itself becomes in these paintings. This is more Electric State than Loop, but yeah digging it so far.
