Missed by editor: incorrect homophone. “He pounds his fist against the steering wheel, wails on the vinyl surface like it holds a treasure locked inside” “Wails” should be “whales” in this context

At 70% of the way through, this phrase has been repeated 21 times.

I’m hate-reading at this point. I don’t think I’ve ever done that before.

Now in completely different conversation with a different guy, she tells him “Do not refer to women as ‘it’”??? Where was this 10 pages ago?!

I’m livid. The sex scene was hot but what he said afterwards? What this reveals about what he’s apparently thought about everyone else he’s ever slept with is disgusting.

So, so gross. And the fact that she’s some badass but doesn’t even blink - in fact, appears to feel complimented - is just sad.

The language is halting, and the timeline jumps back and forth in an attempt to distract from the plot holes. Too much show, not enough tell.

I get this book may not been written for me as a reader, but ... Kastor’s mother is named Hypermenestra?

Super stilted prose. There are flashes of personality in the main character, but it reads like a parody of autism…

I’m having a hard time with the language. If it was just told from the first person point of view, with interjections by the interviewer, I think it would be different. But I’m having a hard time believing that this person would use this verbiage while telling a story.
