I just don't think I can finish this book. It was compared to The Secret History, and so I gave it a try. Maybe my 19-year-old self would have relished the arcane poetry, but it just feels melodramatic to my grown-up self.

I have never read this book. I'm listening to the version narrated by Robert Inglis and I finally see all the hype. Tolkien was an amazing writer. It's so delightful just to listen to his descriptions.
