Such a good choice to get back on the reading wagon. The simply beautiful writing of Fredrik, and even for my slow-reader self, an hour’s read. ❤️

So far so good, but I feel like I need to sink into it for a few hours instead of the piecemeal I've been doing... tomorrow's plan, as it happens...!

So the library didn't have After Alice (not where it should have been, anyway) and I was in a hurry so I grabbed this... Gregory apologizes to his readers for stepping so far from his usual turf. I'll let you know if it needed the apology. (Thus far I'm on the fence...)

The constant italics are a little distracting, but other than that, so far so good. And by "good," I mean holy 2x4s swinging left and right...

I'm totally sunk. Perfectly told, absorbing and--yeah, I'm saying it--human. :)

So far, avoids the kitschiness that these books can sometimes tumble into. Simply laid out and backed up by Scripture, without falling in the other direction of over-quoting.

Loving this. Entertaining, a bit complicated, and with regular winks at the audience in the direction of Monty Python (though not nearly to that level). Finishing this today.

Recommended by a couple of trusted friends; reading carefully, as it treads very close to home...

I enjoyed it for a while, just needed to take a vacation reading break with something not real. :)

So far so good--Rinker's narrative is solid and frequently fascinating, though very occasionally he gets a bit too biting in his snark (referring to people stopping to watching them as "minivan morons"--sir, you're driving a trio of mules and a covered wagon down the side of a highway in the 21st century; people might stare). All in all, enjoying.

Awesome, if you love Neil. If you don't... Well, it's weird and strange and silly and you don't always know what's happening. :) Get on board

So far... This is a lot. :) I love xkcd's comics, but when even the *comics* go over my head with some regularity... Draw your own conclusions about his book. But it's entertaining, in his usual snarky style, and I like to see a full-scale nerd make his living in full-scale nerdery.

So far, not bad--I'll hold off on more than that. He and Claiborne share some similar-but-differently-applied views, and it certainly has me thinking.

Fun, cutesy animal takes on various fairy tales, from a man who knows how to play with them. (Fairy tales, not animals. Though I'm sure he plays with animals, too...)

This is intense. And a little weird to read during Holy Week. But mostly Stephen being his usual master storysmith self.

Totally engrossing, again. Just approaching where I had to leave off last time...

I'd gotten a quarter of the way in last year, but I only remember pieces. And it's Stephen: pieces won't do. Starting over!

I'm bailing. I'm enjoying the research (and her "clearing the nomenclatural air" re: the plural), but her style and tone is obnoxious--the Rachel Ray of the genre, if you'll go with me.

I figured since I've always loved (and feared for) Karana as she pursues that huge devilfish (Island of the Blue Dolphins), I should let ol' Octo have his say...
