I just finished Chapter 13 of Thomas Fleming's "The Great Divide". I actually felt my pulse quicken as I rediscovered the perfidious behavior and actions of our beloved Jefferson in regards to sympathizing with the French Revolution. What makes Jefferson such a friend of thinkers today? I love this book so far. I am, like nearly all others, a victim of confirmation bias, but I love Washington more hold Jefferson in l

I chose this book because I found Keller's book "King's Cross" to be one of my favorites on the life if Jesus Christ as told my the Evangelist Mark.

I love this kind of book. I really do. But I am tiring already of the most common theme: Why Christians misinterpret everything and loathe Jews. Is this claim true? Probably yes. But this seems to be the filter through which she reads and interprets every story. I will continue reading and hopefully come away better informed and blessed.

As a student of the Bible, I love the simple explanations in the footnotes of this Bible. I love the poetic layout of the verses, even in the traditional two column layout. And the cross references are quire useful as well.

Ron Tenney is on page 77 of 352 of The Mormon People: The Making of an American Faith
A very good, concise history of the rise of Mormonism. Bowman has clear writing style and condenses a lot of information and modern scholarship into a few well-written pages. I am currently in the chapter on "The City of Joseph", the pinnacle of power and doctrine during the lifetime of Joseph Smith.

I love the tenacity and grit of this man! He is willing to look McClenand in the face and tell him what he thinks. Between Grant, Sherman and Porter, the combined determination was more than the mighty South could handle.
The maturing Admiral is now learning to appreciate his fellow Army Officers and taking more responsibility when things go wrong. The Steele's Bayou Campaign was an extreme exercise in futility.
