Nitpicky complaint but...The fucking names in this book. I would accept the occasional Zeb or Salem because some parents like to think they're unique, but every character? Come on. Statistically someone is going to be Sara or Josh or Jessica or Tom. Someone is either Samuel or Samantha. I can't throw a fucking rock at work without hitting a Matt. But your side character is named Echo? Please.

Can I just tell you that "magic/motherly housekeeper " is not my favorite cliche stock character, and that its somehow way more cringey when they speak broken English like a fucking cartoon character?

The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer by Laini Taylor: 1 star, just honestly couldn't get into it.

Star of Bethlehem by Ally Carter--3 Stars. Just complete nonsense, really.

Welcome to Christmas, CA by Kristen White--4.5 Stars. "You were wrong. You are magic. But people don't need to remember how it felt to be happy and safe in the past. They need to have hope that they can get there again in the future." Oh God My Feels.

Beer Buckets and Baby Jesus by Myra McEntire--3 Stars. Attempted opposites attract comedy? It was meh.

What The He'll Have You Done, So his Roth by Gayle Forman --4.5 Stars. Two outsiders find each other.

Krampuslauf By Holly Black-- 4 Stars. Strange and magical.

Your Temporary Santa by David Levithan--4 Stars, because if we must have Santa he may as well be gay and Jewish.

It's a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown by Stephanie Perkins--4.5 stars the characters were snappy and cute together, and I desperately wanted more.

Polaris is Where You'll Find Me by Jenny Han-1.5 Stars. The childish heroine and the presence of actual Santa in the story made this way too juvenile for my taste.

Angels in the Snow by Matt Dr La Pena--4.25 Stars. New adult, snowed in romance with many feels.

The Lady and the Fox by Kelly Link--3.5 Stars. Thought the concept and the story were enchanting, though I failed to connect to the protagonist.

Midnights by Rainbow Rowell-- 4.25 Stars, very typical cute/awkward Rowell story

I just realized that I've been reading this...err, book? I've been reading this thing for seven days now. It's a struggle bus, people. I'm going to try to finish it because I want to review it, but holy guacamole, I might perish in the attempt.

Overall this book seems more good then bad, but holy shell, love triangles make me want to punch puppies.

So now I'm well into the portion of the book where the hero is supposed to be "redeemed", or at least no longer super abusive and rapey. But lo, he has just decided that he will have his wife again at last, "whether willingly or grudgingly". I just...ugh, dude.

*exasperated sigh* Heather is still vapid and useless and Brandon remains a giant douche canoe. I could detail all the particular douche canoe moments but the list would be unending and I have a lot of book left.

This is sure to win me my merit badge for terrible reading decisions.
