Daisya Spencer is starting The Invitation
I know that I wanted drama, but this is a different kind of mess. Stupidly so.

Only one chapter in, but I can already tell that this will be a hilarious read.

I'm not done with the book, yet, about close or a little over halfway, but I could do without Tamara.

I'm over halfway through this book and nothing remotely interesting has happened for the most part.

This book is beyond ridiculous. Extremely slow-paced, and the most you're still getting out of it is juvenile behavior. I like only three characters, neither of which is the main protagonist.

And what makes it worse is that the narrator's voice is not it.

I've concluded that when speaking about progressive and important topics, it seems like there is an innate level of cringe that can't be shaken, and very few authors can pull it off genuinely. I'm only a few chapters in, and this book feels incredibly juvenile for a novel that is not YA. So far, this is just comical while aggravating at the same time.

I decided to DNF "Spare" for a while. It wasn't a bad book, but I realize that it's not something I want to be reading right now. I was almost finished with the first part, and I thought that portion was fine for what it was, though. Maybe I'll revisit this sometime in the future. But if I could rate the part of the book that I read without counting it towards my Goodreads goal, I'd give it three stars.

It's weird. Not a lot is happening, but I'm still intrigued at the same time. I think out of everyone I am the most interested in the Concierge even though there haven't been many chapters from her perspective and hers are short.

And I'm listening to this novel on audiobook and I find everyone's narration interesting with the exception of Jess. With the narration, she just seems like a flat character, to me.

Darby is an annoying character, and also.....why was it necessary for the author, a white one at that, to include another slur word? There was no need for it.

So far, it's okay (currently listening to the audiobook) but could've been done without a certain slur word. There was definitely no need for it, especially coming from an author who is not a person of color.
