DNF. I loved the first book in the series, but 30 min into the audiobook I still wasn't interested. Plus this is yet another reader who doesn't change her voice for different characters.

There really is a movie called Pink Smoke Over the Vatican.

OMG. I know it’s fiction, but it’s reality-based. The main character would have been at Ton-Son-Nhut at the same time as my father. Oh boy. Serious feels.

The author knows absolutely nothing about Gila Monsters save that they are lizards. A “pet” Gila Monster sits on Santa’s lap??? Please.

Re-reading it before continuing the series.

It’s a very long book. We read 80% of it on our Texas road trip, and hopefully will finish tomorrow on the drive to Tucson and back.

Very long book + tiny font = slow progress. Soooooooo sllllooooow.

Waiting for Lee to get the audiobook so we can read it together.

I may not be able to finish this book until I get it in hard copy. The audiobook feels endless because there is so much repetition, and it’s difficult to skip ahead with an audiobook. With hard copy it would be easier.

I may switch over to the audio version so Lee and I can read it together.

I’m surprised and annoyed by mistakes in the last quarter of this book. Notes for author: 1) syringes are used for injections, not for blood draws, 2) syringes proper, whether glass or plastic, don’t go into the blood vessel (only the needle enters the blood vessel).
