Ok this is not exactly what I expected and fine, Sybil is kind of an incredible, surprising, infuriating, hilarious, genuine character.

This book is BRUTAL.

I’m reading this on audio and the narrator is a challenge 😬

It’s better than it was at the beginning and less weird sexual stuff (truly, it’s weird) than there was in the beginning! But my overall enjoyment just isn’t that high. I’ll finish it because I want it done before the second movie comes out but I feel like I’ll be happy when it’s over.

I’m on a two chapters-a-day reading schedule with this one because - unfortunately for the inanimate object that doesn’t care at all - I’m reading another book that is taking up my focus. However, I am enjoying The Shining a lot more than anticipated.

As expected the writing is technically solid, but it also is constructed in a a way that feels modern, even though it is - shhhhhh - older than me.
