Hugh Ross believes that doctrinal integrity and scientific accuracy require a certain kind of affirmation of inerrancy, namely that of ICBI.

Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis) believes that affirming Young Earth Creation is essential for logically defending the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman. This is one instance of what I believe is a larger pattern: Evangelical Christianity has trouble thinking queer people and relationships because it has trouble thinking a sound relationship between theology and normal science.

Something is annoying me more and more, lately: otherwise wise books that have shitty theology about sickness sprinkled in at key moments. Blech. Wake up, Church, and believe the Gospel: Christ always wants to heal. This is basic Christianity.

I was moved by the film version, so wanted to read the novel (already on my shelf). I will not buy his books new because OSC has written brutal things about gay people and equal marriage, showing no sign of repentance.

Note to self: this book is perfect for Lent, thus far. Just finished the chapter on the spirituality of the wilderness. Both practical and biblically/theologically profound.
