I had high hopes reading Diana Wynne Jones for the first time but this has been such a slog to get through.

Why does this read like YA? Or fanfiction?

I don't think I've read a fiction book that talks about depression and suicide so frankly, wow. Given that it's YA, I'm a bit concerned a romantic relationship will fix everything and they'll live happily ever after but we shall see. I'd love this as an adult novel.

All signs were pointed to one direction, maybe two, but in typical Riley Sager fashion, this has taken *a turn*

Seems to be going downhill but still engaging. The villains in this story are acting a bit like caricatures, it's hard to take it seriously

Fun read but seems like it's heading to a potentially very cliche story.

I'm enjoying the writing but not so much the content. Not sure if I'll drop it.
