Thoughts up to page 140… This story is so heart wrenching. And enraging. I can’t remember ever being so angry at fictional characters and the real people (long dead) that they represent.

Parental guidance suggested. This book explores the deep, tragic history of slavery and the awful violence that accompanied it.

4.5 stars. She was such a remarkable woman and ruler. I admire her self-reliance and incredible motivation to better herself, in addition to her adopted empire.
