Man can Brit Bennett tell a story. I am hooked on the story of these twins and their family. How they relate, how they’re different, how far apart, and how linked. They yearn for another yet can’t cross the distance they’ve put between another.

I’m really enjoying my this book and the way it tells the story of everyone. It never feels jarring to switch between POV.

The beginning was kind of cool but now this has become a wattpad novel. The writing is not good.

The mystery of Stella is intriguing but maybe drags on a little too long

I don’t know if the author is from Louisiana. It seems like she’s from California from her bio. But this novel feels barely Southern. There’s a few words here and there like “Cher” but I think if you’re going to write about the South then really commit to research.

Now this is exactly what I think many modern Christians forget - Jesus was a radical. He taught radical love and acceptance and mercy. This book is very interesting as it puts him in a position where he fell into the prophesied role of Messiah.

Absolutely marvelous and joyful! Milkman possesses a wide range of tidbits of knowledge.

I really love the choice of making Ana the sister of Judas. Like Jesus Christ Superstar, this story gives depth and nuisance to Judas. It makes him deeper and more complicated than just a greedy coward. I believe this story more - that he was a Zealot ready to give blood/sacrifice.

Fascinating contrast between Judaism and Roman gods. I think Sue Monk Kidd made a good choice in taking Ana away when it was time for Jesus to become the legendary figure.

I’m super immersed in the story and the time period. She Monk Kidd writes with a feminine sensibility that is left out of Jesus’ ministry.

Ana is very relatable and reminds me of myself, fire burning inside in youth.

This book is full of scholarly detail that really colors the ancient world of Jesus the historical figure.

I love the premise and already loving this book. The historical detail is great.

Absolute rollercoaster

Just like Convenience Store Woman, absolutely spellbinding.

I’m not comfortable with the incest themes going on so far.

LM Montgomery sure does have a gift for making a wacky cast of characters and remembering all their little details, weaving them in later gracefully.

Oh my goodness GILBERT POV??? This is a first in all the novels

Most of those book is fluff and rambling by the older characters. There’s like 10% of the story I actually care about.
