This is such an amazing book, but I definitely have to be in a certain frame of mind to read and appreciate it. Taking much longer than anticipated.

Ugh, this book is such tough going compared to the previous three. The plot just feels like it's gotten old (attack, minor plot movement, screw the guys, repeat). After 3.5 books of this, it's getting old and I need something else to propel me further in the story.

Just finished the section on the first victim, Polly, and wow... Really enjoying this so far. Forcing me to reconsider how I've thought about the framing of this story and how it's told. Not a pretty thing to confront.

Not as gorey as it's been hyped up to be, so I'm a bit disappointed. Still have a lot of book left though. One other issue I'm having is understanding the spatial interactions that are happening. For instance, when Tom is talking to "the man" at first I couldn't figure out where they were in relation to the cabin and the boys.

Otherwise enjoying it although the pacing is a bit off. I can see why people love it!

Seriously, I'm in the middle of a long explanation of purgartory... While I understand why the author is talking about it, this could all be summed up so we can actually get to the point of the book. Blugh...

Mah boy! Seriously though, the more I learn about him, the more badass he becomes.

"The ecumenical nature of the presidential oath is reflected also in the option of "swear (or affirm)." Some Christian sects, notably the Quakers, did not believe in the use of the word "swearing", so the Constitution made sure they were not excluded. (Only Franklin Pierce, in 1853, chose to affirm his presidential oath."
